English For Academic Purposes

This programme is for advanced students seeking to bolster their English language skills in order to enter a UK, USA,  Australian, Canadian, or New Zealand university, or where a degree programme is taught in English. This programme is very intensive and regular homework and projects are required.

What this course includes

Students will focus on four main areas: reading, writing, speaking and listening. The content is geared towards tertiary level studies, and will include research methodologies.

At university, students are expected to work and think independently, be capable of presenting topics at seminars, and write in a clear and academic manner.

On this basis, areas covered will include:

1. Vocabulary development
2. Grammar consolidation and improvement
3. Report writing
4. Essay writing
5. Presentation skills and practice
6. Research methodology
7. Debating and discussing topics
8. Reading, writing, and listening comprehension
9. Note-taking and summarising skills

Requirements

In order to cope with this programme students should have a high level of English (TOEFL 500+/173+, IELTS 5.0+ or equivalent). Additional classes are available as an option for students who need extra support.
